Dentistry Scotland would like to keep you up to date with the latest reps around Scotland. In this issue we speak to Allan Wright, rep for A-dec.
Dentistry Scotland (DS): What exactly is your role within A-dec?
Allan Wright (AW): I have recently been appointed the role of territory manager for A-dec in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
My job is to support dealers and answer any queries dentists may have before or after purchasing equipment; helping them choose the right product to suit their needs, as well as ensuring that they have the knowledge to use A-dec equipment to its full potential and can properly maintain their chair for many years to come.
DS: What do you love most about your job?
AW: I love being able to support dealers and dentists with using and maintaining their equipment.
The importance that A-dec places on excellent customer service is one of the things that made me want to work for the company.
It’s great to hear from dentists that their faithful A-dec chair is still going strong after 15 years, and when the time eventually comes, that they would not hesitate to stay with the brand because of the exceptional service they have received.
DS: How did you get into the dental industry?
AW: I was looking for a job in sales in my early 20s and the dental industry found me. I have worked in this industry ever since, and probably always will!
DS: What is your favourite meal?
AW: Anything with steak is a real winner for me, although I am quite the connoisseur of proper traditional ice cream too!
DS: Where would you most like to travel to in the world?
AW: I am currently planning my dream trip to Thailand with my girlfriend. We can’t wait to go!
DS: What makes you want to dance?
AW: Being around friends and family (and maybe a couple of glasses of wine too).
DS: What are you reading at the moment?
AW: Black box thinking: the surprising truth about success by Matthew Syed.
It’s one of those books that several people have told me is a real eye-opener and changes your life, so I thought that I’d give it a go!
DS: What are you most passionate about in dentistry at the moment?
AW: Helping the dental team to provide exceptional treatment for patients, through innovative and ergonomic products.
DS: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
AW: Not sure, that’s a tough one. Any ruggedly handsome Scotsman that’s available at the time, I suppose!
