A-dec introduces its completely redesigned A-dec 500 chair.

Consider the sheer amount of time that you spend working with your dental chair. It’s the heart of your practice; the centre of your daily work and the destination of every patient.

Assuming you work a typical 37.5-hour week, 48 weeks of the year. Over 10 years (the minimum life expectancy your chair should have), that equates to 18,000 hours spent working with your equipment each year. Buying a new dental chair is a big commitment. You’ll probably own it longer that you’ll own your current car, almost certainly spend more time with it.

That’s why investing in high-quality, reliable and ergonomic dental equipment should be a no-brainer. Your dental chair and delivery system should be comfortable to work with and help to make your work easier and more efficient too. The new A-dec 500 is a dental chair that has been designed to do just that.

Revised and redefined

The new flagship model is a completely revised and redefined version of the A-dec 500 model – a chair that won many awards globally and became famous for its comfort and reliability – a legend redefined.

Practitioner health and ease of use have been key considerations for A-dec when developing the new A-dec 500 dental chair. A thin, flexible backrest and with slim upholstery and a cut-away baseplate are essential for you to get in close and work in a comfortable position – legs under your patient, elbows at your side. A lightweight and smooth delivery system with automatic braking has been introduced for easy and precise placement.

Drift control is also an important consideration; if you are in the middle of a procedure, the last thing you need is your instruments and materials drifting far away from you. Both continental and traditional delivery systems on the new A-dec 500 are designed to stay put, to avoid disruptive situations and eliminate excess strain on the spine from repeated reaching and lunging for the delivery system.

Extended reach tubing on the continental system offers greater range of motion and arms that balance the tubing weight reduce in-procedure resistance and fatigue. As on the traditional delivery, there’s also a positionable touchpad, which tilts and rotates for precise viewing from multiple angles and can be adjusted for right- or left-handed operators. The sleek design with toughened medical-grade glass is easy to clean and dynamically displays only what is necessary for the current procedure.

For ease of use, an LED coolant indicator lights up when a handpiece is lifted out of the holder. These individually-adjustable water coolant lights identify which handpiece is in the active position, so you can make adjustments without second guessing. A customisable tray holder is also included, which enables you to position everything right where you need it and comfortably within reach – eliminating the need for any twisting or straining when reaching for instruments or materials.

Patient comfort

The new and improved delivery systems can also facilitate a brilliant new addition from W&H: Advanced Air. The world’s first air-driven, high-speed handpiece with adjustable bur speed, combining the cutting efficiency and control of electric with the tactile feedback of air. This integrated handpiece is compact and lightweight, yet powerful and precise. A true gamechanger that has to be tried to be believed.

Your dental chair is probably the first thing your patient sees when they walk into the room, so it needs to look the part too. The new chair has a revised upholstery design that is both durable and stylish, with a wide range of upholstery colours and contrast stitching to choose from – or a sleek, seamless version for more clinical settings.

The upholstery on the A-dec 500 is moulded to fit the patient like a glove, keeping them comfortable and secure up to a weight capacity of 500 lbs (227 kg), although the chair has been successfully tested up to 2,000 lbs (907 kg). A rigid frame absorbs movement and optimises stability, while a powerful hydraulic cylinder guarantees smooth transitions with a 10-year warranty.

New armrests provide increased comfort and support, facilitating an even easier ‘in and out’ for the patient. A soft start/stop to the chair movement and virtual pivot synchronises chair movements with the patient for ultimate comfort.

Even installations and serviceability have been considered. The new A-dec 500 is more robust and servicing simplified to save dentists from costly downtime.

A-dec products are engineered to last, but technology is ever-changing. With a flexible, forward-thinking design, the A-dec 500 perfects your practice today – and grows with it tomorrow.
